Having sampled pizza from New York to Naples, I can confidently say that Home Slice Pizza is a cut above the competition. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, the staff were friendly and eager to answer any questions we had, and most importantly, the pizza was fantastic!
The crust was thin and crispy, not too thick or doughy like many pizzas. The tomato sauce had great flavor balanced with just enough garlic salt and pepper to give it that extra kick. And the cheese was really delicious – every bite melted in my mouth! It was a great combination of all of these elements – truly an art form for the taste buds.
The selection of toppings was amazing as well – from traditional pepperoni to creative combinations like roasted garlic mushrooms. We opted for an Italian sausage and roasted bell pepper combo that truly blew our minds away!

The first thing I noticed when I stepped into the restaurant was the incredible smell of freshly-made artisan pizza. It was like a slice of Italy had been transported straight to Austin. The crust was cooked to perfection – super crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. And the toppings were incredibly fresh, with just the right amount of zingy flavor and texture.
I tried their classic Margherita pizza first and it didn’t disappoint! The combination of tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil and Parmesan cheese was mouthwateringly delicious. I also sampled their Veggie Special pizza, which was also bursting with flavor thanks to its mix of mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives and more.
The best part about Sammataro is that they don’t just serve traditional pizzas – they also offer unique flavors like spicy pepperoni and garlic cream chicken. If you’re looking for something different than your usual run-of-the-mill pizza joint, then this is definitely worth checking out!

The restaurant itself has a fantastic atmosphere and vibe, almost like you’re stepping into Italy. But let’s get to the part we’re all here for: the pizza. From my experiences, there is truly no better pizza in Austin. DeSano does not skimp on flavor or quality; from every bite you can taste the fresh ingredients and homemade dough that make this pizzeria a must-stop spot for anyone looking for an authentic Italian-style pizza experience.
I think the best part of eating at DeSano is that you get to be involved in the pizza making process; they actually bring out the ingredients and let you assemble your own pizza right there!
