After months of sampling the local pizza in this part of the city, I’m happy to report that there are some great pies out there! I’ve visited 11 pizza places so far and have compiled my list of the very best.

#1 Gaeta’s Tomato Pies
The pies they serve here are like little slices of heaven. The crust is thin and crispy, but not too crunchy. The sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and acidic. And the cheese – oh, the cheese! It’s so creamy and flavorful that you wouldn’t even know it’s a low-fat option.
The toppings at Gaeta’s Tomato Pies are equally as good. Whether you choose prosciutto, pepperoni, olives or mushrooms (or any combo), each topping adds its own unique flavor to the pizza, making it even more delicious than before.
Finally, I have to mention the service. Every time my taste buds have experienced Gaeta’s Tomato Pies, I’ve been treated with honor and respect by everyone who works there. They make sure my pizza is cooked just right and nothing is ever forgotten from my order; it’s a rare treat in this world today!

#2 Momma Mia’s Pizzeria

The minute I saw the restaurant I knew I was in for a treat. The décor had a classic Italian pizzeria feel which made me feel as if I had traveled back in time to Italy itself.
I ordered their specialty pizza – the ‘Momma Mia’s Special’ and it certainly did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly crunchy and the tomato sauce was just spicy enough to provide a delightful balance of flavor. Their special blend of cheese was also particularly noteworthy, providing an excellent level of mozzarella flavor that really brought out the best in the pizza.
The food arrived quickly and hot, proving that Momma Mia’s Pizzeria does not skimp on quality or speed. My fellow diners were equally impressed with their orders as well.

#3 Vince’s Pizzeria

I stopped by for lunch and was greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant had a fun, relaxed atmosphere, making it a great tourist spot for visitors to Philadelphia!
The pizza was delicious. The crust was thin and perfectly crispy and the cheese melted in my mouth. I could tell the ingredients were fresh, as the flavors were all bold and distinct. My particular favorite was their traditional marinara sauce – an absolute must-have!
Although Vince’s Pizzeria didn’t have delivery, it was well worth the trip to visit in person. The service was fast and attentive, so it still made for a quick meal. But really, you should make every excuse to visit Vince’s Pizzeria – it’s some of the best pizza around!
#4 Gino’s Pizza Cafe

The crust was crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft in the middle, with a really unique flavor. The sauce was homemade and had plenty of herbs and spices. And the toppings were so fresh–you could tell they were just out of the farmers market!
But it doesn’t just stop there: their customer service is top notch! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, like they’ve known you all their life. Plus, their portion sizes are very generous.
Overall, Gino’s Pizza Cafe deserves an A+ from this traveling critic! They definitely have some of the best pizza in Northeast Philly–my mouth is still watering just thinking about it!
#5 Marianna’s Pizzeria

From the moment I stepped inside, I could tell that Marianna’s Pizzeria was something special. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a friendly staff behind the counter providing helpful recommendations.

My favorite topping combo at Mario Brothers Pizza is pepperoni, olives, and jalapenos – it’s the perfect combination of spiciness and saltiness! But they offer a wide variety of toppings that allow you to customize your own creation.
The service here is friendly and fast. The pizza arrives quickly, no matter how busy they are. Plus, they have delivery if you don’t feel like making the trip yourself.

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was something special. The welcoming atmosphere not only made me feel at home, but also set a great tone for my pizza eating experience.
The waitstaff greeted me warmly and asked what type of pizza I wanted to try. With so many choices available, it was hard to decide! After much consideration, I settled on a classic cheese pizza, and let me tell you – it didn’t disappoint.
The crust was perfectly crispy, the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness, and the cheese melted perfectly in my mouth. It was definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted!
I also tried some of the other menu items and they were equally delicious. The garlic knots were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside – absolutely perfect. The salad was fresh and full of vibrant colors. And don’t even get me started on their dessert pizzas – delicious!
Overall, Angelo’s Pizzeria & Family Restaurant is a must visit if you are ever in Northeast Philly looking for some great pizza!

The restaurant is very charming in its atmosphere, situated in the heart of the old city. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was easy to find a table.
I decided to try the classic cheese pizza. When it arrived, I could tell that it had been made with love. The perfect crust – crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside – combined with a savory sauce and gooey cheese left me wanting more! The veggies were cooked to perfection and added an extra layer of flavor that elevated the whole experience.
Overall, my experience at Philly’s Finest Pizza was one of the best pizza-eating experiences I’ve ever had! It is definitely worth checking out for anyone looking for delicious pizza in Northeast Philly!
#10 Salerno’s Ristorante & Pizzeria

I arrived at the restaurant, expecting a typical pizza joint. But as soon as I stepped inside, I could see that this was different. The atmosphere was inviting and warm, with Italian music playing softly in the background.
Then came the pizza! I had ordered a classic Margherita, and it did not disappoint. The crust was thin yet robust, with a perfect char on the edges. Topping it off were juicy tomatoes and basil that gave the flavors an added complexity that made this Margherita stand out from all other pizzas I’ve tried before.
The service was excellent as well. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed, including more napkins than you can imagine!

I’d heard about the restaurant from some of my food blogging friends, so I knew it had to be good. I was not disappointed! The pizza crust was cooked to perfection – light and fluffy on the inside, with a crunchy exterior that was just right.
The toppings were fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. From pepperoni to mushrooms and Italian sausage, you could definitely tell each topping had been added with care. The cheese was gooey and melted in my mouth – just as every great pizza should be.
I also enjoyed the atmosphere at Joe Santucci’s Square Pizza Bar & Grill – cozy and inviting, without feeling too stuffy or pretentious. The staff was friendly and attentive; they clearly cared about their customers having a great experience.
All in all, I’d say that Joe Santucci’s Square Pizza Bar & Grill is definitely worth trying if you’re in Northeast Philly looking for delicious pizza. It really is some of the best pizza around – don’t miss out!
